MS51 was very very scary when I first arrived. I knew no one. I was terrified, there aren't enough
scary words in the word or in any language to describe how scared I was. That is no exaggeration. So 6th grade was very scary but I began to open up, I couldn't have one friend forever. So I made some friends, and I became close with them, I still felt like a kid though I didn't feel like I was getting older. I was but not mentaly, I still felt innocent and kid like.
Seventh grade was better. It was alot of stress though. I was thrilled to be in 7th grade, but also very scared. It was alot of stress. This was THE year the year that would get me into the high school I want or the high school I really don't want. I had my heart set on beacon just like everyone else.I thought I had a real chance of going. I tried keeping up all my grades, but school was hard and i only got a 89 average. I did so much work wrote all essays and I thought I nailed the interview. But it wasn't enough. I came to terms with myself. I knew I wasn't gonna get in, and I felt like an adult, I was okay with it, I was happy and excited to go to any school I got into. Nothing was set in stone but I was okay.
Eight grade was when I really started to feel like an adult I offically wasn't a kid anymore. At first I hated it. Being older isn't fun, it isn't easy. I had a whole new list of responsibilities. You know when your a kid and all you wanna do when your older all you wanna do is be a kid. I know exactly what it means. When your a kid you are so carefree and naive, when your adult you see the world in a different view. I know now I finally am growing up. I am not a kid. I accepted that I didn't get into Beacon and I am happy to go to Midwood I hope I countinue to grow in a good way.

Reflection
In the book Extremely Loud and Incredibly close it is unusual novel of coming of age. Although the main character Oskar has a disease that makes him say things uncontrobally, so not all of us have this disease so it may be hard to relate to that factor. But it told or taught me how hard life can be for anyone and everybody, everyone one has problems. Oskar lost his father in 911. I am sure lots of people can relate. I on the other hand not really me I mean it's terrible all those people died but I was lucky enough to not have anyone I know die in 911, so I can't relate first hand. So this book more zooms in on the loss and how that feels. So I can't relate as well.
The disadvantages of working in my group was this was a hard novel to understand and everyone in my group thought that too so sometimes it was hard to put ideas together because we don't know what was going on. An advantage of working with the people I did is they were very smart and could draw conclusions or have a hypothesis about what was going on so adventually we would figure out what was going on and share ideas.

reflection
The book Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Foer is certainly a different novel. But I think it captures some aspects of growing up, but only in unique and special situations, but not always. Like he is still very young so I can't relate entirely I mean he's eight. I mean I can relate I was eight once I said things I didn't mean I said them uncontroblly sometimes, but I didn't have the disease
Dramatic Scene
At school people don't like me very much.In fact in general it seems people don't like me. I have a disease. I can't control it. So I try to write things, but sometimes I write things and it dosen't make sense. I was walking down the street with my mother one day after the accident at the World Trade Center, and she started to sob. She just stood there in the side walk and sobbed. I tried everything in my power to comfort her, I tried rubbing her back, hugging her, talking to her. But once again I said the wrong thing "I wish everyone but daddy died" Instantly my mom stopped crying she stood up. People were starting at me and my mother. Jaws wide open. Some yelled and said hurtful names. My mother pulled me out of the streets and smacked my arm and said "Don't you dare say that, thats so rude and out of line if I ever hear you say that again I will be very angry even more angry then now." she walked away and I felt tears in my eyes.

Adjacent angles- two angles that are directly next to each other and share a side.
Supplementary angle- two angles whose measures sum to 180 degrees (A half circle, straight angle)
Complementary angle- two angles with a sum of 90 degrees (They form a right angle)
Vertical Angle- (AKA opposite angles) vertical angles are congruent (equal in size to one another)
Parallel lines- lines that if extended indefinilely will never touch
Transversal- a line that cuts across lines
Parallel lines intersected by a transversal- lines that are cut by a transversal to form several pairs
Corrosponding angle- appear at different intersecting point but in the same position. corresponding angles are congruent to one anoother
Alternate Interior angles- angles formed inside parallel lines but on opposite sides of the transversal that are congruent
Alternate exterior angles- angles on the exterior of parallel lines buttom the opposite sides of the transversal that are congruent

Chris Reilly. Fourteen. Young. Bright blue eyes. Dark brown hair.
Oldest of seven. Trusted greatly by Colette and Jim Reilly.
He's like an extra father to the other of his six siblings.
He's kind. He's responsible. He's a good friend and an even better brother.
He'll have your back no matter what. He stands for what he believes in.
He isn't easily swaydded. He will protect his family in any situation.
So there were these two red headed twins
they were the neighborhood bullies
real annoying you know?
always picking on my family
and other kids
So one day we were walking from school
they started to follow us
my six siblings and I
pushing us
calling us names
taking our stuff
so we finally make it up to the hill to the playground
so I
snapped
I jumped on one of them
the other one was in such a state of shock he just stood there
so I pinn the kid and I don't let him up
and I spat on him
that was pretty humiliating in those days
one of thee worst things you could have done
it showed you lost and he did
things changed they never bothered us.
Ever again in fact
they never bothered anyone again.

Follow up question: what was the best part of growing up in such a big family?
"Many friends, someone else to play with, lots of cake for birthdays."

Even though it matters what you wear now and what phone you had. When I was growing up everyone had converse. Everyone wore the same things. Parents today seem to baby there kids or except too much. I don't envy kids I am glad I grew up when did. They haven't changed too much they still want the same basic things.

Romeo and Juliet Final Essay
The story of Romeo and Juliet is a little out dated, but it is still a classic. It tells the story of two rival families living in Verona Italy. Although these two lover are forbidden to see each other they do. There love seems to grow but so does their families rivalry. In the end they decided they can't live without each other and they kill themselves. This seems very extreme especially for these times. No one should be going around killing themselves just because they can't see someone. Maybe if it's the love of your life you can find another way to see them. The story Romeo and Juliet still holds some universal themes such as love, family rivalry, death of a love one and just death and love in general. Also the characters have some differences and similarities to modern people. Such as Juliet to the modern women , although they may have many differences there are some similarities.
Marriage. That has changed over the years. Women don't usually have arranged marriages, at least in the U.S. Except in some cultures such as parts in the Middle East, India and parts of China. Also the age of marriage has changed, I mean the age people get married. Juliet was supposed to be married to Paris at the age of fourteen! In Act.1 Sc. 3 Lady Capulet says "Well think of marriage you. Younger then you here in Verona ladies of esteam, Are already made mothers." Girls younger then 14 were already married and had children! I don't think any 14 year old girl would wanna be pregnant or married. Also the parent usually dosen't pick the spouse. Except Juliet's mother and father picked Paris for her, even though she did not want to marry him.
The role of women has also changed. Juliet's main job was to marry Paris and have a child. In Act. 1 Sc.2 Paris says "Younger then she are happy mother's made." while talking to Capulet. But women today have many different jobs some are mothers others are actors, lawyers, docters etc. all different types of jobs.
The way women meet men is different. Some ways are similar others are not. Like Juliet met Romeo at a party. In Act.1 Sc.5 on page 105 *Romeo takes Juliet's hand* "If I profane with my unworthiest hand this how swine, the gentle sin this; my lips too blushing pilgrims." Women still meet men at parties and other social gatherings, But there are some new more high tech ways to meet men. There are hundreds of online dating websites. Also women usually date a variety if men before they marry one of them. Juliet and Romeo only knew each other at the most a week, then decide they should marry.
As you can see there are some similarities and differences between the roles of women now and then and marrages and dating. Juliet is probaly more extreme then any modern women when it comes to love. But the universal theme of love, attraction and passion, that Juliet and the modern women share.

romeo and juliet project
Thesis: Juliet compared to the modern women. Similarities vs. Differences. Marriage is alot different today then it used to be. Women pick there husbands usually enless foir religious reasons or somthing else then that would be a similarity to Juliet. But women go out and meet new men and date all different men before they find the one their going to marry. In Juliet's time and in the modern world women still do meet in similar ways. For example Juliet met Romro at a party, it's very common for a women to meet a man at a party. The role of women has changed too. In Juliet's time a womens job was to make children and serve their husband that's basically it, but now women a=have real jobs and provide for there families and bring in an income.
Paragraph 1- Marriage differences and similarities between Juliet and the modern women
Paragraph 2- The job of Juliet vs. the modern women
Paragraph 3-How juliet reacted to situations vs. the modern women
Paragraph 4- Conclusion brings all topics together and the changes

Reading Response:Warm Bodies
Warm Bodies takes some place in the near future, except there is not future, no one knows what has happened but the world is full of zombies and the few surviors. Then there is R. A zombie but with so much more to offer. He feels and this isn't common at all for a zombie, traditional zombies aren't supposed to feel anything except maybe hungry. R soon falls for a survior named Julie, Julie is mixed up and confused, how did her world turn up like this? She has lost her mother and recently lost her boyfriend. R meets Julie while he is hunting, although he is compelled to eat her, he is more compelled to protect her, this is somthing he has never felt before. He takes her to his "home" or an adbanded old airport where many zombies lurk around. As Julie learns more about R she realizes he isn't her typical zombie. He's more human then anything. He has feelings and he begins to feel human again with her. But soon she must go home, but neither of them realize their effect on the other zombies, seeing R and Julie it makes them feel, and feel human. But then things take a turn for the worst. Will the humans find the cure for the zombies?
"I dont't know I feel." R says as he sneaks up into Julie's house to tell her the changing he and the others have felt. This is just one situation where he has began to change but this is the first time the others have felt. Is that all they needed? To see R and Julie together and happy, a zombie and a human? To remnind them of their own lives? When you see something that maybe happened to you do you rember what thats like. Yeah you do probaly.
Julie really believed in R when no one else. R is a zombie you really need to have faith in a zombie especially in thius time, I mean the world is run by them and the surving humans are their food source. She saw he felt more and had the will to become human again and he was the cure, he inspired more undead to feel.
Warm bodies was an amzing book. R and Julie remind me a bit of romeo and Juliet except one of them is dead to begin with and comes to life in the end. But it is about forbidden love and that's the same concept. Zombie and humans aren't suppsoed to mix, much less fall for each other, but they reached out to each other and cured all the undead. Someone should have given Ra chance a while ago.

Reader Response: Teen Angst
Teen Angst is an autobiography on Ned Vizzini (one of my favorite authors) early years and applying for high school and his personal experiences. I have read two other books by Ned and in my personal opinion are some of the greatest books I have read in my fourteen years of life. I think he gets teens perfectly and he understands the struggles and hardships of our generation. I don't think many authors can do that. So it talks about Ned applying to high schools in the city and the specialized test and all that fun stressful stuff that makes teens wanna pull their hair out.
In the first chapter Ned is in 7th grade and is starting to think about high schools. He hears about the specialized high school test and immitaly depends a test prep book. His dad buys him one and immidatly starts to study his butt off. As a kid living in New York City this is enforced as soon as you get into middle school. So many decisions specialized high school, your grade average, what school suits you best. And then their is all that personal stuff like where are your friends going? , which schools you really want stuff like that so Ned knows first hand on the pressures of applying to high school.
Ned studies his butt off aces the specialized test and gets into Stuyvelson. He describes it as everyone looks out for themselves, no one else, people with higher grades were basicallly worshipped. It didn't sound like an ideal enviornment for me, well for me at least. In high school your supposed to have all these experiences and find out who you are and who you wanna be and if your studying all the time that isn't living that's boring. You need balance work and social life. You can't spend your whole life studying that's not what life is about its about enjoying yourself but working toward what you want to accomplish.\
I know I already said this but I think Ned really gets this generation and the struggles of getting into high school and staying in high school. It's alot of pressure no matter where you go your always going to face social and academic problems no matter what. so the lesson is have some fun but also work hard because you can't get anywhere in life by just having fun you need to put some work in but you can't spend your life in a text book you need to live.

reader response:paper towns
The book "Paper Towns" tells amazing tale of a computer dork and a popular exciting girl coming together on a journey. Margo is a your average popular girl. Or so we think. She goes out to parties, has a boyfriend on the football team and her popular friends. Q computer geek and his two computer friends Ben and Radar. Q has been crushing on Margo since forever but never really had the courage to talk to her even though their in classes and neighbors. Until one night Margo jumps into Q's bedroom and needs to borrow his car and go on a quest or some errands for Margo. They leave fishes at her best friends stoop breaks windows and exposes he boyfriend who is cheating with her best friend. Next day she dissapears and this is not rare she has run away many times but this time shes 18 and schools gonna end soon and she leaves clues for Q and he's on his own trying to find her. What's Margo trying to say this time?
Margo is a little bit attention seeking I think. When her and Q were doing "errands" she said "I couldn't taken someone else but I didn't I took you you should be happy." It's like she took pity on him cause she thought he was a loser or a geek and had no life and that was the most exciting thing that's ever happened to him, and maybe it was but you still don't say that to a person especially if you value another persons feelings. Also she has ran away so many times so it seems she wants attention from someone.
I wonder why Margo did choose Q she could have just stayed out of trouble just comforted her boyfriend about cheating , and break up with him, told Becca she didn't wanna be friends cause she was cheating with her boyfriend. But she had to go the attention seeking way and run away. Why do people look for that way? Do they really need someone to pay attention to them every single second of the day?
This book I think really defines what it is to be growing up and how teenagers need attention sometimes and they are complex and misunderstood. And they are going to disovbey what they are told simply because it's like it's programmed into them.

College graduates are having more difficulty then ever find jobs. We are still recovering from the recent and still recession, It's not just college graduates having trouble finding jobs, although they do have more difficulty then others, everyone who is out of work is struggling. More and more people are getting in debt.
Why are more and more people loosing jobs especially ones with college education. One example is Kacey Herring. She has resumes, worked at a law firm but no jobs have come around for her. She has all this experience but no job. She is highly qualified for a job, she has alot of experienece. Is it because the economy? It might be.
Also so many college students need to pay off their debt. Many Americans in general need to pay off debt because they have been out of work for so long. The unemployment rate has gone down since 2009 but still 12 million are unemployed. People are in more then 50,000 is debt, You can't really spend much money, and some things you really need to buy, so it can really put a hardship in peoples lives.
Sp many people have been dealing with debt and unemployment. Yes, it has gotten better but not good enough, these people need jobs to support themselves or others like their families. This could raise the poverty level, and it probaly already has. Many graduates can't get jobs no matter how qualified for a specific job they are, they just can't hire. All that work and talent to waste.

He is under all this stress and it's because of high school, the high school process is stressful I know this because I recently just went through it and I really hated it and I was so relived when it was over, and I know when I get into high school it's gonna be even harder then middle school academically and socially.
When Craig finally gets out of the mental hospital he's a new man. He's met new people. He has found his anchor. In the beginning he goes to the therapist and she tells him to find an anchor somthing he can relie on make him happy. He finds art. He ends up switching schools.
Craig has been on a roller coaster, and he has been through alot, at war with his emotions, his friends and his family. It's a big decsion especially if it deals with taking a life. Alot of teens struggle with high school and finding themselves and sometimes they get very sad and stressded out so they make poor decisons

Non-fiction article:hope for a second chance
In this article "Hope for a second chance" it talks about how children are being arrested and punished for their wrong doings. But they are all under the age of 18, so there has been much talk of how since they are 18 that they should receive a second chance. I think that that is fair because these kids are only kids, their minds aren't fully developed and they might not know right from wrong.
Many adults do not want to give crime committing children a second chance. "Some may argue that if these juvenile delinquents get a second chance, they will just commit other crimes." I think many adults thinking is that these kids are kids and will make the same mistake over again because they are kids, and kids are still learning and make many mistakes, but that is all part of growing up. But if a kid is thrown in jail at age 14 and stays in juvenile for 4 years till he is 18 and then is thrown in jail, that isn't exactly going to mold the kid into a model citizen, but maybe if you give the kid a chance and gave him some tips and pointers on how to become a better person and let them out they will most likely turn out better.
Also there is an argument that children should be trialed as adults and not as children. "Some people believe that children should be tried as adults when prosecuted for certain serious crimes. Others feel that children should be tried as minors because they are not yet adults, and therefore, they should be treated differently. This is an important debate because how we choose to punish juveniles affects both our current and future society. Kids all over the United States are being tried differently in court, and it is not fair to judge and punish them inconsistently for the same crime." I believe that children under 18 do deserve some form of punishment depending on the crime but there like 13 or 12 years old they don't know any better, their mind isn't developed enough to know what they are doing is wrong. They could have be influenced or raised in a not so great enviorment.
So are kids crimes really worth punishing? Or do they just need a push in the right direction? I think they should be punished in some way just so they learn there lesson but not be punished like a 25 year old would be, because they are different people and they committed different crimes. The difference, the 25 most likely knew what he was doing the kid, maybe he knew maybe he didn't the fact is kids aren't supposed to know everything yet their supposed to learn from their mistakes and you can't do that if you keep them locked up.

Non-fiction article reader response
The non-fiction article I am doing a response on is "Forging Path to Starting Line For Younger Disabled Athletes". This article talkes about how disabled athletes want to start to compete with non-disabled pro athletes, insted of just competing against other disabled athletes, but many people do not want this too happen.
I think that disabled athletes do have a right to compete against non disabled athletes because they want to challenege. Which is great because were always told to challenege ourselves in one way or another. I think that people don't want these group to compete against each other because they are afraid if the non disabled athletes win all the time it will get people mad that the disabled athletes aren't winning and it's not fair.
Maybe people never thought it would be an honor to compete against pros. That they don't care if they win or loose, they're just happy that they can compete and they are allowed too. That they are finally challenged. They might learn from the pros and who knows one day beat them at their own game?
So I think that they should be able to compete, you never know how it will go. Really it's not like they are gonna die from this, they just want a chance to compete what's the harm in that? Exactly no harm done.
